Poetry
A taste of my passion
A graceful Journey
A feathered dancer, in skies so wide,
A graceful bird, with naught to hide.
Above the park, it takes its flight,
A wonderous vision, a pure delight.
Its wings extended, a gentle breeze,
it soars and slides among the trees.
A silhouette against the sun,
A perfect picture, second to none.
Then down it swoops, a sudden dive,
Where squirrels below, in fear survive.
They scatter quickly, a furry blur,
As the bird descends, a feathered spur.
No harm it means, just playful jest,
A fleeting moment, put to the test.
It rises upward, a joyous sweep,
While frightened squirrels, from branches they peep.
A glint of mischief, in its eye,
A daring notion, to reach the sky.
It spies a prize, upon the ground,
A supermarket bag, newly found.
With swift precision, a focused might,
It grabs the bag, taking flight.
A plastic trophy, held so high,
Against the canvas, of the sky.
It tests the wind, with newfound weight,
Adjusting course, sealing its fate.
A comical sight, for all to see,
A feathered bandit, wild and free.
Through leafy branches, it makes its way,
Performing stunts, in bright display.
Then soars again, with elegant grace,
Leaving the bag, in empty space.
It circles slowly, a final look,
Then heads towards, a babbling brook.
A master flier, of airy art,
A gentle touch, upon the heart.
The sun descends, the day is done,
Its graceful journey, nearly spun.
A peaceful ending, to a peaceful day,
The bird spreads its wings, and flies away
Written by J Ashley from a park bench in Essex
A lonely shadow by waters edge
Each morning breaks with golden light,
A lady her bike in flight,
To the lake where gentle waters flow,
Where ducks and swans in sunlight glow.
Her basket filled with crumbs and seeds,
She knows the rhythms, the simple needs,
Of feathered friends who await her call,
In the peaceful silence, she gives her all.
With laughter soft as morning breeze,
She shares her heart beneath the trees.
A story woven with joy and care,
In every visit, a bond laid bare.
The country house stands tall and grand,
Yet here by the lake, she feels the land.
For in this place, her spirit dances free,
In the company of nature, she finds her glee.
Once, she sought adventure far and wide,But in these moments, she finds her guide.
The swans glide by, the ducks take flight,
In their simple lives, she finds delight.
So day by day, she rides her way,
To the lake that holds her hears, at play.
A lady with kindness as bright as the sun,
In feeding the ducks, her souls work is done.
Written by J Ashley in Essex, UK. Based on a real, mysterious woman who J sees on walks every day, never failing to stop by a lake to feed the ducks and swans.
Chasing Shadows
The George, a place I often find,
A waitress there, so very kind.
Standing at the bar, a gentle grace,
Smiling at me across the space.
As she passed, a light so bright,
Chasing shadows from the night.
She lifts a smile when i'm feeling low,
A simple gesture, it makes me glow.
She says "Hello", a cheerful sound,
Even her days unbound.
By worries that may cloud her mind,
A ray of sunshine, SO hard to find.
She works at the George, day after day,
Greeting customers along the way.
She says "Hello J", a friendly call,
She sees me there, standing, standing,
But she never lets me fall.
